They play instrument and work in coal pit. But in the mid 1990s, the coal pit was threatened with closure. So they can not warm to brass band. Semifinal match of brass’s concert is coming but they can not warm to brass band. One day, Gloria comes their practice place of brass. She says “count me in, too” but Danny says “you can not, because you are not this town person”. She says “I was born in this town”. So she count in. She is grand baby of best coal pit’s man in this town. She also plays flugelhorn. She is good player of flugelhorn.
Semifinal match’s day, they win the concert. But coal pit closed. Coal pit’s men languish and their life style is change. Lost the jobs, lost the family…
Danny drop because ill. But he doesn’t lost hurt for brass.
Brass’s final match’s entry fee is 3000 ponds. They can not pay. But Gloria pays the money. They appear on stage. They play William Tell Overture of Rossini. So they achieve win. Danny comes to final match’s hall and he speech of victorious. He says “I thought brass is NO.1, but I find more important things. It is persons. So I don’t collect the victory trophy.”
Since 1984 there have been 140 pit closures in Great Britain. At the cost of nearly a quarter of a million jobs.
This movie is very impressive. Coal pit’s men give of one’s best of their life. They are very alvo.
